Pitching Hitting and defnse harder?!

I have found pitching, hitting, and defense much more difficult in MLB 14 than in years past

Pitching (Meter) I am close to the yellow (which doesn't seem to grow as much for pitcher confidence as years past) and still seem to piss off the plate way too much. I am also getting hit more than ever (have been playing since MLB 09 the show)

Defense (Button Accuracy) I have always used buttons-- but I wanted to try this and can never get a feel for timing down. I have made at least 2 errors in my first two games (and lots of unearned runs have resulted!)

Hitting (Zone) This year I am struggling to get the ball past middle of the field-- Have not hit a home run in four games with the Nationals (also played 2 exhibition) I dont know what I'm doing wrong but about 75% of balls in play I am hitting on the ground or short line drives dumped in front of outfielders.

Is anyone else noticing this or am I in an early season slump?!

One thing I have noticed however, is I am striking out much less
