Can we just frame this post and sticky it at the top of the forums?

1. "B" potential MR for Mauer seems wrong to me

2. Unless ignore budgets is turned on, the Rays taking on a huge contract seems kind of odd to me as well.

3. I have no problem with Mauer being traded but the 2 points above seem to kill the realism in the deal to me.

"B" seems spot on to me. Mauer is 31 years old, a catcher (position change or not, he already caught for 8 years), and is not known for his durability.

Don't confuse a potential rating with an evaluation of his career. Potential is supposed to represent well... his potential (for growth and/or longevity), as of today.

I'll give you the budget thing though. I didn't think about that before. Rays are definitely the last team to ever make a trade like that.

But to be fair, that's more of an issue with "team logic" not "trade logic."

Either way there is no chance he would be straight up traded for one B potential.

I agree with you, no issue with him being traded at 31, but there still needs to be more added to the deal than a single player with B potential.

And once again, it's a relief pitcher. For some reason, relief pitchers hold tremendous trade value in the game.

I guess not.
WTF do you even follow baseball? Teams trade their best players when they still have value all the time for top prospects.....happens every year, and you dont want it to happen? ROFL.

If you guys are expecting 100% realistic trade logic ina video game, you will be waiting for eternity, this is incredibly hard to replicate in a game, seriously it's a game.

Re: I thought the trade logic was fixed?

All I know is 6 years into a Franchise, no team in the league (other than me, who stays way under budget) has enough budget space to do anything. And virtually all of my trades are rejected, nothing ever "fits our strategy". Even when the ratings are comparable. Then the CPU turns around and asks me for my 86 rated RP in exchange for a 67 rated 29 year old?

I understand that the trade logic will have flaws. But the budgeting is still a huge issue for the game.

In 6 years, no one has offered me a trade deal for a player I've placed on the trade block.
