Draft: Prospects and Busts

Hey guys,

Didn't see a thread for how draft picks are turning out so I thought I would start one.

I just had the first year player draft in year 1 of my Rockies franchise. Got a SP with a 94 potential and a decent 2B.

How are your draft picks looking? Anyone far enough along to see how their picks pan out?

Feel free to comment below!

Re: Draft: Prospects and Busts

I just completed the draft myself. Got two closers that are A potential, a 1B and a RP that are B potential, and then a starter, 2B, and OF that are C potential. My last pick was a 1B that was a D potential that I most likely will not sign.

Haven't gotten far enough along just yet to see how they pan out, but am looking forward to it. The draft, in terms of player potential/rating is the best its ever been.

In my first draft I didn't draft any 'A' potential players. I drafted a few 'B' potential players. There were a few 'A' potential players when I picked, but their big league ETA was so far (like 2023 - 2024) I felt it was better to pick someone with mid/high B potential that will be in the bigs sooner (2017 - 2018)

Do you really not sign some of your drafted players? At worst they can be a placeholder on your Single-A team and come cheaper than signing someone during FA.

I agree! Also with the way potentials can fluctuate you never know how a player could end up developing. It's always possible that he could produce when given a shot and raise his potential.

Re: Draft: Prospects and Busts

What I love about this game is that there is no bust/gem feature/gimmick.

There will be busts, but it happens realistically over several years.

Also they did a great job of improving how well the AI teams draft. Last year it was too easy to have great picks fall to you
