Am I missing something on throwing settings

The settings I have now are just to hold the button for power. What is the setting so that accuracy is involved in the throw? I believe last year you had to find the sweet spot and let go for the throw to be accurate. I'd rather control accuracy than power because I hate random errors.

You need to pick the option for button accuracy.

It's not gone, it's button accuracy. Spend some time and investigate the settings, the game will not break.

I've seen two different meters. One is like an actual meter that goes left to right back to left and you have to time it right. The other is a circle under the player that fills with a red glow as you hold it. What's the difference between these and how do you use it (particularly the second one)?

Go to Button Accuracy. My personal fav throwing option.

The meter under the player in button accuracy is your throw strength. Your initial press determines the strength which simultaneously starts the meter above the player for the accuracy portion of the throw.
