stars you struggle with
hey guys thought id ask the community what star on their team they struggle with. Im doing a Mariners chise and for the life of me I cannot hit with Cano lol. I'm a month in and he's hitting .236 with 6 homers and 17 RBIs its just brutal. good counts..bad counts just cant find it with him and i hate it lol. everyone else is playing great and were in first in our division and as a team I'm hitting .275 playing DD and am on HOF..any tips for people using the M's or just voice your concern with your players lolTags: None -

man this is brutal..at what point do you think you should sit a star guy down for a few games or maybe even trade him? Robbie is my fav players and I just don't think I could ever bring myself to do either lol even if he is killing the teamComment

Re: stars you struggle with
This is a serious question that I struggle with almost every year. It applies equally to pitchers too.
To attempt an answer, 40-game stretches sounds about right. Overlook the first 40 games outright, "consider" a drastic move if he's still garbage after 80 games; after 80+ games, you'll either have to deal with it (Adam Dunn's .180 season comes to mind, where he still pretty much played every day) or, yeah, he needs to be moved/demoted.
Thankfully I've never quite gotten to that point. I can usually keep just about anyone above .230; those .220's and under though, man ... might as well be some random rookie if you can't hit .230.Comment

Adrian Gonzalez (0.211) and Matt Kemp (0.226) both have been horrible for me. I don't know what it is, Kemp has exceptional ratings against LHP but is hitting 0.173 against them and Gonzalez, no matter how fat a pitch is, he can't do anything with it either beating it into the ground for an easy out or lofting a fly ball for an easy out. The only thing Gonzalez has done decently is draw walks (20) and this is in a 45 game sample size so not like they haven't had plenty of chances to break out of it. I'm at the point where I might package Adrian and Haren for something as both are basically killing my team just in different ways.Comment

Right around 80 games in, Harper is batting .220. It's so weird that what should be the best hitter on the team, just cannot seem to get it going.REDSKINS & WIZARDSComment

Joe Mauer was atrocious for me. He was right around .190 and after an 0-7 14 inning game where he must have stranded 10 runners, I shipped him out for prospects.
I played a few games with the Mariners and couldn't hit with Cano either so I know what you mean. My advice would be to move him around in the lineup and see if you can get a spark. Maybe put him at 7th or 8th for a few games and see if he starts hitting. If that doesn't work, try changing his stance to the closest one you can find for him. I find sometimes I cannot hit with certain stances at all, but if I tweak the stance even in the slightest, I start hitting. Very weird.Comment

hmm never thought about changing stances. I wanted to keep my chise as real as possible and changing a stance seems kinda weird. Do you guys think thats "cheese" or "cheating". I am going to switch him to fourth and move up corey hart whose batting close to .300 so hopefully that help and if not ill keep moving him down but its awful and taking the fun out of playing with the M's lol. What kind of players do you think I could get for him?

No I don't think its cheating at all. There's many stances in the game that you can find that are very similar to Cano. Just give him one of those, it can't hurt. If it doesn't work, just go back to his default. Actually, I have changed a lot of players stances and have found ones that are a lot closer to their real life stances. I watch tons of video of stances on MLB.com because I am OCD about getting all my guys stances dead on.
As far as trading him goes, he's got a $240 million contract and is in the first year of it IRL. Not many teams could afford that. I have no idea what his contract is like on the game. Yankees are out. That basically leaves the Dodgers, Angels....Maybe the Mets and Giants. You could ask for two A prospects and a B and a C most likely. If you traded him to the Mets you could build a deal around their prize pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard who should turn into a beast. A future rotation of Felix, Tijuan Walker, and Syndergaard would be very promising.Comment
