30 Team Control More Free Agents

I tried looking for this but I couldn't find it so I thought I'd ask.
What is the trick to get more free agents in the first part of the off season? I've heard of people turning CPU Contracts to manual and then sim a few days, then turn them back to auto. But how many days do I sim, or is there another way of doing this?

I've heard to sim up to the first "star" date on the calender.. 5 days after the start of the off-season. This is when exclusive negotiations end for teams and FA opens up.

I haven't had any issues with number of Free Agents, but their demands are pretty high. I just finished the 2017 season and I have multiple guys looking for $33M per season.

But does that give other teams time to sign their players? If I sim up to the day I feel like there would be too many players that weren't signed by their club and are now FA.

I just did my offseason last night. Simmed the first 4 days (NOT the 5th) of the exclusive negotiating period and it worked like a charm.

Does anyone know if budget increases were fixed with the patch? I did a little workaround and sent around 5-7 teams over their payroll budget.

The ps3 version never got the budget issue patched and most likely never will, I play on ps3 and it sucks but I have house rules I use to help

Not sure if anything changed with budgets this patch. Just finished my season and this is everyones increase / decrease.

Orioles decreased 9% 74-88
Red Sox decreased 4% 71-91
Yankees decreased 1% 84-78
Rays stayed the same 84-78
Blue Jays increased 11% 89-73 - Lost ALCS
White Sox stayed the same 72-90
Indians increased 10% 83-79
Tigers increased 10% 94-69 - Lost AL Wild Card
Royals increased 15% 95-68 - Lost ALDS
Twins increased 9% 76-86
Angels decreased 9% 62-100
A's increased 14% 96-66 - Lost WS
Mariners increased 6% 87-75 - Lost ALDS
Rangers increased 1% 84-78
Astros increased 15% 71-91
Braves increased 15% 99-63 - Lost NLDS
Marlins decreased 10% 61-101
Nationals increased 11% 93-69 - Lost NL Wild Card
Mets increased 3% 75-87

But the ps3 version is the one messed up. I'm guessing you are playing on ps4? Ps4 is fine

I know. I figured he was asking if anything changed with the PS4 version this last patch since we are in the PS4 part of the forum.
