Based on this, the cutoff should probably be around 50 for what should be considered "cold"

Re: Weather Historical Data

I went through the data from bp4baseball...and while there are differences with the SCEA data used......it wasn't that far off for most cities. In some cases the SCEA temps were even higher.
Also....without being at the event and getting to talk to whoever is in charge of temps.....and they use the chart they have....I don't feel confident enough to give them the info provided to make changes.
I don't think changing the temp ranges is going to change how the teams wear sleeves anyway...they are too close.
They are either going to have to lower the threshold or give you the option I'm afraid.

I think a lower threshold is probably the simplest and best solution but, as we've proven here, it's not so simple coming to a consensus of what that threshold should be.

Re: Weather Historical Data

The temp should be 45 degrees anything above I think is where some players wear sleeves and some don't so that would be the easiest way to help with the issue. It was just in the 40's here in NJ a few days ago and it felt like spring.

The problem with temperature is its relative. If you've been in 20 degree weather for a week and then there's a day that is 45, you'll feel very comfortable. But if you've been in the 70's and the temperature drops to 45 you'll be all bundled up.

Maybe it would be good to have the option to wear longsleeves pregame, after you see the temp.

Re: Weather Historical Data

Here's a convoluted solution.

What if every time game temperature dropped by 5 degrees, the percentage of players with sleeves went up and vice versa?

Rough example:
60 degrees= 10% in sleeves
55 degrees = 25% in sleeves
50 degrees = 40% in sleeves
45 degrees = 70 % in sleeves
40 degrees = 100% in sleeves

Little convoluted.. BUT.. That's actually exactly how'd they'd code that if they were to include it. Sounds like a simple If/Then loop. Like this.... (and pardon my syntax, I haven't coded in a while and also I KNOW the devs dont use basic hahaha)

IF
The temperature is
>65 degrees then 0% in sleeves
OR
60 degrees then 10% in sleeves
OR
55 degrees then 20% in sleeves
OR
50 degrees then 30% in sleeves
OR
>40 degrees AND <50 degrees then 50% in sleeves
OR
<40 degrees then 100% in sleeves
END IF
