MLB The Show 15 and Share Play Vita TV

I seem to have missed info on this whole "share play" function on the PS4 and Vita TV. Does this mean that I can share my PS4 game with friend who has a Vita TV and we can play MLB the show together? Like a whole Franchise or whatever I want, coop game??? I could ship a PS TV to a friend oversees, share and it is like we are playing together in the same room? Of course for games that are multiplayer like MLB the show....?

Thank you SCEA, for adopting my ideas for a Playoff feature and eventually an 'online franchise'. No credit needed to be given... I am just happy you are working towards it...

Re: MLB The Show 15 and Share Play Vita TV

You can Share Play with two PlayStation 4 systems. They do not need to own the game if you have PS+ and activate Share Play where you are "handing the second controller to him." He will need PS+ to play the game by himself, though. I tried it with nemesis a few months ago for MLB 14, and unless Sony has worked on it with firmware updates it really does not work well for a baseball video game. Too much input lag.

PS TV on the other hand is a whole different story. Your friend may activate Remote Play and connect to your PS4 to play. I don't think the lag would be much better there, especially if he is playing on a different network (doesn't matter if it's one street down or overseas, in that case). Even playing in the same house, I'm suspecting RP's lag might be too much for baseball video games. It works pretty okay for some games, though.

My guess is your best bet will be for your friend to get the Vita version to play on PS TV and you guys upload to the same cloud, meaning you'll have to share the same PS+ account though. That way you can both play a franchise, but never at the same time.

Thanks for the comments... This is very interesting I have to say,... technically, I could buy a PS TV and send it to my friend overseas and play any "share play" capable game together from my PS4. That is simply awesome, I can't believe I didn't see this before. Here I am like a goofball posting everywhere about coop sports games and this could very well be the ticket.

I understand the function of remote play and cloud saves as I shared a franchise with a friend that way before when the cloud service was first introduced for the show, but to be able to play together is really exciting, I understand the probable lag could be a problem, but the prospective is really amazing.

Wondering if I can play other sports titles the same way NBA2k, Madden and FIFA?

...and if connecting this way to play in a franchise in the show is better than connecting to an online franchise the old fashioned way?

      Appreciate others comments. Thanks.

Re: MLB The Show 15 and Share Play Vita TV

I think you misunderstand. The only way you guys can play the game together simultaneously is if you both have PS4 systems, or if he is in the exact same room with you like the good ol' days. Share Play does not connect through Vita or PS TV, even if you try and connect Share Play via Remote Play (which would probably be double the lag).

It actually might be possible for the Vita/PS TV to be the "first player controller" when connected through RP and then the actual person hosting on the PS4 be the second controller, but that is still too much of a hassle when considering the lag, getting the proper account right, and everything else. As I said, the best option is for him to own the Vita version and you guys just split the franchise save file via the cloud.
