Not sure but his defense being so bad is probably why he isn't rated as a higher ss. Not sure how much D effects the ratings, but that could be it.

The reigning AL Cy Young winner not in the top ten SP's is a joke. Horrible oversight

It depends on the position. SS OVR most likely takes defensive ratings into account more than it does offensive.

That AL Cy Young winner had also never pitched more than 147 innings before last year. And had an ERA of 4.24. Take into account that they use the last 3 years when rating players who would you have taken out?

Cueto has a 2.54 ERA the last 3 years. His WAR is less than Klubers though.

David Price has 5 more WAR. (20 more starts though) a lower ERA. Exact same FIP, Lower BB/9. But lower K k/9.

Darvish has 3 more WAR (10 more starts). Higher K/9, does have a higher BB/9. Basically the same ERA. Higher FIP though.

Bumgarner has a lower ERA. But his BB/9 is higher. K/9 is lower and his FIP is higher.

Now id say he should be ahead of Fernandez though. Point is Kluber has had 1 good year. Do it again and he will easily be top 10 next year.

Re: MLB 15 The Show Player Ratings - Top Rated Players at Each Position

Pretty much everyone's mad if their favorite teams player didnt get a 90 plus rating lol. A credential like gold glove or "2 times all star" means nothing. Scott Rolen made the ASG with like a 650 OPS and being injured. Come on people.....

Plus for the one millionth time....overalls mean nothing because certain attributes are weighted heavier for each position.

Castro will probably have 70-80 contact, 40-50 power, and 60-70 defense like he does every year. In Mlb 13 he was probably a 90+ but now he is an 80 does not change how he performs on the field.

Again I dont buy into overalls but I can guarantee they have Peralta's defense vastly underrated again. Players like Castro and Jose Reyes shouldn't have better defensive attributes than Peralta's.

That would definitely make sense since defense at short is a top priority for most teams over offense. Its the only reason Zach Cozart still has a starting job, with how awful he is offensively, lol.

If it does indeed take into account defense more for a ss, then that's probably why Castro isn't rated as high as what some Cubs might think he should be with him being a poor defensive player.

I agree, now Castro range definitely should be higher than Peralta's, but Peralta fields the routine plays cleanly, he just don't have a lot of range, where as Starlin has the range, but is challenged defensively, along with mentally challenged as well out there, lol. He did improve some last yr, but still not good. His bat keeps him in the starting lineup for them.
