Outfield Choice Of Fielder Often Wrong!

When there is a hit to the outfield, more often than not, the computer picks the wrong fielder.
The obvious one (Nearest) is not chosen and you end up running the wrong way and before it's too late, there multiple base hits.

Is there a better way to choose the fielder nearest to the ball before it's too late?

Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks

Paul

Press L2 at any time after the ball is put into play.

Thank you but what does that do exactly?
Does it select the correct fielder or is it some kind of auto fielding?

Yes, L2 allows you to cycle the defenders and select the correct fielder closer to the ball.

Re: Outfield Choice Of Fielder Often Wrong!

I've noticed that my LF has been the default for a lot of balls that I thought for sure would have been assigned to my CF. It's caused me to get a bad jump on the ball because I just assumed my CF would be the default fielder, so by the time I press L2 to change fielders I've lost a step. So I do agree with the original poster that the default choice seems a little off to me compared to previous versions of the game.

I use auto fielding, with manual throwing. Problem solved ;-)

Interesting, does that not take the fun out of fielding though?
