Re: Free Agency?

That's pretty interesting It sounds similar to NBA live where players would not only think about the money but also factor in the market size , playing time, and being on a contender before signing on the dotted line. Its pretty hard to tell what the players want in The Show would be nice to see where they place these things during free agency

Re: Free Agency?

I find that if I offer a player a nice contract, and mine is at the top of his list, and I sim a few days and he still hasn't committed, that means he's still looking for a better deal, and I have to keep "upping" my offer every 2 days or so, otherwise he's not signing with me. And sometimes I lose him anyway, but I like that. If it was too easy to sign whoever I want the game wouldn't be as intriguing.

I disagree. I felt like he also made a good point and one that is applicable to the show.

I don't feel like doing a big search for it but I believe it was confirmed that the algorithm uses money but sometimes places a bigger weight on playing time, thus a team like the Rockies have to offer more to that free agent SS since they already have Tulo, for example. But, also market size is reflected based on team's payroll. Thus, NYY and LAD have to offer more than any other team for the same player.

Suppose that NYY and MIN both have openings at shortstop and want the same player. To fill up the interest bar, NYY will have to offer $3MM/yr more than MIN will to fill it. Merely, this is because of payroll differences. If NYY Gregorious is still around and had a good year, that player might perceive no starting role for him and want $6MM/yr more to fill it up. Now that they are both filled up and no other teams are interested, NYY still only have a 50% chance of getting that player to sign with them.
