Re: Free Agency?
Are you the Raiders? No? Oh, wrong sport. What I feel about this issue is free agency works on a multitude of levels. Need. Team. Money. If the CPU offers what the player is looking for it probably maxes out that category. So even if you offer 5 million more, you and the other team are rolling with the same max attribute in the money column. So it probably comes down to fit and team.Comment

Re: Free Agency?
I.e. Cano as an example when the Yankees thought they'd have a hometown discountComment

Re: Free Agency?
ok....u literally just said nothing. I was pointing out that Yanks, Red Sox and Dodgers fans feel like money should win everyone. U literally just said absolutely nothingComment

Re: Free Agency?
Most people I talked to when the Cano signing went down thought it would have been silly to offer him the huge long contract that he wanted...
You're entitled to your own opinion just thought that was rather rude, that's all
Before this thread turns into a flamefest and gets locked, back to the OP, more factors than just contract money play a role in a guy signing for teams which makes it a bit more realistic although just like in real life some players are all about the big $$Comment

Re: Free Agency?
That's pretty interesting It sounds similar to NBA live where players would not only think about the money but also factor in the market size , playing time, and being on a contender before signing on the dotted line. Its pretty hard to tell what the players want in The Show would be nice to see where they place these things during free agencyLast edited by zello144; 04-13-2015, 04:29 AM.Comment

Re: Free Agency?
I find that if I offer a player a nice contract, and mine is at the top of his list, and I sim a few days and he still hasn't committed, that means he's still looking for a better deal, and I have to keep "upping" my offer every 2 days or so, otherwise he's not signing with me. And sometimes I lose him anyway, but I like that. If it was too easy to sign whoever I want the game wouldn't be as intriguing.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: Free Agency?
I don't feel like doing a big search for it but I believe it was confirmed that the algorithm uses money but sometimes places a bigger weight on playing time, thus a team like the Rockies have to offer more to that free agent SS since they already have Tulo, for example. But, also market size is reflected based on team's payroll. Thus, NYY and LAD have to offer more than any other team for the same player.
Suppose that NYY and MIN both have openings at shortstop and want the same player. To fill up the interest bar, NYY will have to offer $3MM/yr more than MIN will to fill it. Merely, this is because of payroll differences. If NYY Gregorious is still around and had a good year, that player might perceive no starting role for him and want $6MM/yr more to fill it up. Now that they are both filled up and no other teams are interested, NYY still only have a 50% chance of getting that player to sign with them.Comment
