Good timing is never good.

Maybe they messed up and "Good timing" is actually bad because every single time i have good timing i miss or foul the ball, even if my PCI is directly on the ball. I've tried this with directional, pure analog and zone, I normally use zone so there's no excuse for it.

"Every time"? I really have a hard time believing that's the case as a fellow Zone user that bats on HOF batting. Sure I'll miss and foul pitches that I had the PCI on with good timing (usually weaker hitters), but by no means is it even close to every time.

Re: Good timing is never good.

I personally seem to fall somewhere in the middle. For me "good" will sometimes get a hit, but it seems like the percentage of hits on "good" are pretty much the same as on "early" or "late" for me. Of course its way better than "too early" or "too late," but its a bit weird to me how "good" doesn't result in more solid contact.

Re: Good timing is never good.

i use timing it has 100% of the time when it was "Good" it was a foul, i have not seen 1 ball hit in to the play area with a "good" contact

Re: Good timing is never good.

I've never put the ball in play when I have good timing, ever. I hit a lot of foul balls and sometimes completely miss even when the pci is on the ball. That just shouldn't ever happen. If I get my PCI directly on the ball and have good timing it should result in the ball being put into play 100% of the time.

Timing is a little different - the "good" only refers to the timing part of the swing and says nothing about location. So even if you've timed the pitch well and get "Good" you can still miss or foul more frequently - that's entirely dependent on the batter's ratings.

I'd be curious to know how many games you've played to notice something like this. The OP too, for that matter.

Re: Good timing is never good.

This is why I'm kinda glad SCEA took out the swing feedback graphic. Too many people, myself included, pay too much attention to that. Not every perfect swing will lead to a hit/homerun. There are times in baseball where a hitter might not get a good swing on the ball but somehow gets a hit.

When you get a hit do you always look at the pitch info afterwards? I have never seen a good swing get a hit. But its because i usually dont look to see what the pitch or my timing was when i get a hit.
