Re: Hitting timing - when to swing
I hit to all fields with success, it's just about playing the pitcher and the count. If I'm facing Lance Lynn and I'm ahead in the count, I know there's about an 80% chance I'm getting a fastball, if it's Adam Wainwright I'm about 65% sure it'll be a sinker. Now if I'm facing Michael Wacha I have to be 3-0 or 3-1 to guess fastball there. 2-0 2-1 could be a changeup.
Behind in the count with 2 strikes I don't guess fastball, if I get something offspeed that's in the middle of the zone I'll crush it, if it's a fastball I'll be late. So yes, it's easy to pull the fastball but you should be ahead in the count and have strikes to burn just incase you get the odd offspeed pitch there, otherwise it's all in your favor.
Play the percentages, play the odds, guess, rather than worry about getting fooled on something. It's the only way to sustain success.
