Not every game or series since that doesn't really happen but ever now and then would make this game perfect.
There isnt a single sports game that does it for me so i dont even look for it anymore

I still get that spark for playing a rival (for me its the Reds) because I want to beat them and beat them badly. But I agree, there isn't any passion in this game. Maybe next year they can add more cutscenes or something to add more passion/drama/animosity into the games.

Agreed 100%. I don't play all the sports games, but the ones I do I don't see anything like what the OP and myself are asking for in any of them.

NCAA was the biggest for me. Mizzou vs KU, Bama vs Auburn, Mich vs Ohio St were all just another game it felt like.

Agreed 1,000%

The game that should have the ability to set apart a rivalry from a regular game, failed to do so.

Re: rivalry moments?

At one point they had a cutacene where the batter who got hit and felt it was on purpose, would start to walk to first, jawing out the pitcher, after a few seconds would run at the pitcher and then it faded into a cutscene. That cut scene disappeared the following season, I believe because mlb didn't want it promoted. This was in one of the first couple of years of the show though.

That was in until at least 13 i believe. Cant remember seeing it last year or this year though.

Re: rivalry moments?

I believe if you bean a second or third batter in the same inning you get a cutscene of the opposing manager and players in the dugout enraged about it.

Re: rivalry moments?

Since I don't expect MLB to let benchclearers into the Show, there should be other ways for SCEA to incorporate a more rivalry feel for those particular games. Some suggestions:
Fans with signs like Beat LA , Stankees , & Cubs fans smell funny, among others.
Hard slides into second base. Instant replay to highlight that & Vasgersian to comment on it. Slides so hard, injuries more likely.
Showboating, like batters admiring homers a little too long. Again with instant replay & Vasgersian to comment & highlight.
Pitchers waving goodbye to batters they strike out or tipping their cap to them.
Managers coming out to "discuss" balls & strikes with umps.
Managers asking umps to inspect pitchers gloves, caps, & such.
It's a real fine line the Show has to walk to depict rivalries.
Kinda easier to do with, like, college football & game trophies.
I know Houston-Texas has the Silver Boot Trophy, maybe that could be awarded after a years series is decided, but I don't really think trophies are common enough to bother implementing.
And while these aren't the best way to give games a rivalry feel, with the San Diego Studio team's imagination, the only thing to stop expansion of rivalry mode is the Show's limited budget.
