rivalry moments?
been playing the show for a while and always wondering why rival opponents would never bean batters or already ever challenge inside. rivalries in baseball are a huge part of the game and what make it exciting so was just wondering why this aspect is left out. I have never been intentionally hit once and teams always seem to lack that passion when there should be some. any guys seeing any fun rival moments? I play as the angels and have hit intentionally guys from the A's seeing if anything would happen and it never does!! makes me angry lolTags: None -

I have wondered this as well...at least after I hit someone why doesn't the cpu follow the unwritten rules and plunk my guy.
My opinion/guess is that the MLB doesn't want this aspect of the game translated into a video game, like bench clearing situations. I understand the line of thinking and then again I don't. I know you don't want the "ugliness" of the game being "marketed" but at the same time, it happens in real baseball and is "marketed" by sporting websites and sports shows.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: rivalry moments?
exactly i don't get it at all. The most drama I ever see is when I brush a guy off and he steps back..points his bat and stares me down..its a really cool cut scene with the benches getting angry also. It really amps me up to go after that team. I just wish rivalry moments carried away from series to series. Such as if i hit a guy then the next series they hit me or hard slide into my guy. I don't think 12 year old kids playing the game would go out and try this. Its not like they haven't seen bench clearing brawls in baseball.Comment

But if thats the case, how come i can deliberately hit the cpu? I would think if the MLB didn't want intentional beanings, they wouldn't let the user move the cursor to basically aim at a player.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Again, if you don't want to show bench clearing brawls, I get that. But I would love to see some animosity in the game.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Exactly I just want to see the real passion of playing a rival and the excitement. I still love playing each game but I don't feel that spark for playing a rival like I should and adding the element of surprise of getting beaned or taken out by a slide here and there would be awesome. Not every game or series since that doesn't really happen but ever now and then would make this game perfect.Comment

I still get that spark for playing a rival (for me its the Reds) because I want to beat them and beat them badly. But I agree, there isn't any passion in this game. Maybe next year they can add more cutscenes or something to add more passion/drama/animosity into the games.Exactly I just want to see the real passion of playing a rival and the excitement. Agreed 100%. I don't play all the sports games, but the ones I do I don't see anything like what the OP and myself are asking for in any of them.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

NCAA was the biggest for me. Mizzou vs KU, Bama vs Auburn, Mich vs Ohio St were all just another game it felt like.I still get that spark for playing a rival (for me its the Reds) because I want to beat them and beat them badly. Re: rivalry moments?
At one point they had a cutacene where the batter who got hit and felt it was on purpose, would start to walk to first, jawing out the pitcher, after a few seconds would run at the pitcher and then it faded into a cutscene. That cut scene disappeared the following season, I believe because mlb didn't want it promoted. This was in one of the first couple of years of the show though.Comment

That was in until at least 13 i believe. Re: rivalry moments?
I believe if you bean a second or third batter in the same inning you get a cutscene of the opposing manager and players in the dugout enraged about it.MLB: TORONTO BLUE JAYS
NFL: MINNESOTA VIKINGS
