Pitches for RttS Closer

So far I have Cutter, Forkball, and Curve. What are 2 other pitches I should add down the road?

I would recommend going with no more than 3 pitches as a closer...if you have more, you will run into issues in maintaining confidence in all your pitches throughout the season

Re: Pitches for RttS Closer

Since each pitch has its own confidence meter, not using pitches lowers your confidence in it...since closers only pitch one inning every couple games, you just don't throw enough pitches to maintain confidence in each individual pitch if you have 4 or 5...that has just been my observation

Ps: since starters throw many more pitches, they do not have this issue

4-seam with changeup and the 3rd ur choice IMO. i made a closer with 2 seam as my main pitch and while i managed to get through to be a A potential prospect, once i got up to the majors, i could not close out games and i have been struggling since. so im thinking having the 4 seam would help out more.

Re: Pitches for RttS Closer

My closer has four pitches:
4-seam
Change up
Slider
2-seam

I'm left handed and usually only use the 2-seam against right handed bats and throw mid to high inside on them. That being said, the confidence with the 2-seam is usually not all that high.

Just starting my first full year at the MLB level with the Dbacks. They are sucking right now, so there weren't a lot of save opportunities last year. Did have 28 saves and blew 1 or 2.

Go with 4, not 5. You got the fork so I'd use that as the change of pace pitch instead of adding another changeup. I'd suggest a sinker. Or the Running FB.
