Pitch Count / Innings Limit

Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody here makes a house-rule that involves pitch counts and/or innings limits.

For example, at the beginning of my season I usually keep my starters on a lower pitch count than I do if it's the middle of August where they're free to throw until they're out of gas.

Not sure if this actually effects anything in the game when it comes to stamina / durability (I don't think it does) but I think its a fun way to make this game a little more realistic than it already is.

Feel free to share how you take care of your pitchers' wings.

Re: Pitch Count / Innings Limit

I pretty much only look at whether I'll have an off day between their starts or not. The AI doesn't really have a limit, so I don't set myself one strictly. I generally like realism, but at the same time restrict myself to what the cpu does and doesn't do.

Re: Pitch Count / Innings Limit

I typically ascend the pitch count through Spring Training, so by their first start, my starters can go 90 pitches. After their 3rd start, I give them free reign.

Mine all depends on their energy level and how I feel they are doing. I don't really take pitch count into consideration

Re: Pitch Count / Innings Limit

100 pitches or 7 innings, whichever comes first is when they get pulled. I only ever let them complete a game if I'm up by more than 5 from the 6th inning on

7th inning is typically my goal for my starters, but if they start losing their command and letting the score start to get out of hand then its time to pull them.

Re: Pitch Count / Innings Limit

Ironically I almost started this thread yesterday haha.

I actually dont have a pitch or innings limit. I generally let my guys go until they get into real trouble. As a rule though I always have a guy up in my bullpen from the 6th on....even if its just stretching.

Re: Pitch Count / Innings Limit

I ramp up the pitches throughout spring training and into the season. Pitchers get free reign after their 2nd or third start. If I've clinched a playoff spot, I also like to ramp down just a bit.

I usually work a system that involves both a "soft" pitch limit (pitcher can finish the inning/get the batter out) and a "hard" pitch limit (pitcher is not allowed to pitch over said number regardless of situation). These numbers are usually 10 to 15 pitches apart.
