How do you handle Spring Training?

I usually go to the last ST date, and advance through date. Then go set my 25 man roster and then go back to the calander and advance to Opening day.

Franchise SIM is dead. Find your favorite iterations and play it forever. Card games are whats "now" and games will cater in that direction and forget realism.

Just have fun and play :)

Re: How do you handle Spring Training?

I play all or almost all of my Spring training games, but since switching this yr to the PS4 not sure how many Spring Training games I will end up playing, since there is just 1 spring training park per league. Been waiting on a roster or I would have done been into the season by now. I am hoping next yr they have upgraded Spring Training and added more ballparks, as I know Im in the minority but I enjoy playing those games, and IRL I actually enjoy Spring Training, out of all the preseasons for sports, baseball is definitely the most exciting for me, and the only one that I pay close attention to and watch as much as possible.

I usually sim like a week at a time. Every week I demote 4-6 guys who struggled and/or have no shot of making the team. Then I play the last game with my set 25-man roster.

I sim and play. Prospects I tend to use to analyze where they're at. I want to use potential rookie pitchers so I can make decisions on where to place them. I'm in season 3, about to enter season 4 and having a blast in the team building and spring training battle processes.

Re: How do you handle Spring Training?

Depends on what kind of position battles i have going. Usually have a few starters that will fight for the 5th/LR roles. And a 4 or 5 guys fighting for a backup role. I sim 5 games at a time and change the rotation / lineup between each sim so i can get an even number of starts for everyone that is fighting for a job. There are usually 2 or 3 games left at the end and i just put in my backups as much as possible before picking who stays based off stats.
