Re: Scripted Innings!

If there are numerous threads about scripted/comeback programming and numerous users stating they believe it exists, why would that be?

All I know is, I've had many games on The Show where once I have a late lead, my player commits some sort of inexplicable error or the batter takes a low and away pitch out of the park or perfectly in the gap, right where they needed to put it to score a run. I'm like:

I get that some people get annoyed by these threads, but equally annoying is the fanboyage prevalent here where anybody who suggests there might still be things that The Show could work on in future iterations are criticized.

Anyway, on a constructive note, perhaps pitcher confidence and energy are overpowered? There's something under the hood that attempts to replicate "momentum" and, in my opinion, it's a little overpowered at times.

[quote=bronxbombers21325;2047922679]I've played sports games since, somewhere around 1987, and have never noticed anything like what you're talking about. What would a dev team, or game maker have to gain by making a comeback code, or scripting innings/games. It exists in your opinion, but that fact is that it doesn't exist in reality.[/QUOTE

Bronx there are still sliders in games like 2k hoops and Madden that helps players keep games close!

Um, no there isn't.

Re: Scripted Innings!

How many times to people have to say scripted innings/comeback codes don't exist before other people stop yelling about scripted innings/comeback codes? :

Yep I think it was back in NBA 2K11 or something there used to be a clutch attribute or slider. But that has since been removed from the game. And I have never once felt like I lost a big lead in any sports game because of the game itself. I can always go back and look at what I did wrong that caused me to lose a game. Whether it be leaving in my pitcher too long, not taking advantage of an opportunity because I don't want to run the score up, crappy defensive plays, etc.

This. When I first started playing The Show in 08, it seemed like my bull pen would blow every lead I had, no matter how big the lead was. It never failed, once the starter was out, my game was over. I realized that it wasn't the games fault, it was my own. I'd concentrate very hard on pitching while the starter was in, but would lose focus and make bad pitches because I was trying to rush through the later innings to get the win. Once I started using the same focus and concentration with my relievers, the constant come backs stopped. Don't get my wrong, I still blow leads, and saves from time to time. But that's baseball.

Re: Scripted Innings!

I've asked this question in every single one of these threads, and for some reason, never get an answer.

If there are in fact scripted innings what is the trigger? There has to be one. What is the common factor in every single game that has had a scripted inning? Does every game have a scripted inning?

I'm curious to know.

This is why Owl's challenge would prove so informative if anyone would ever take him up on it. But even then we'd just have people complaining that challenges behave differently from the normal game when they get wildly varying results.

It's truly never-ending.
