I've occasionally seen this as well.

I've had some games where the CPU is in a save situation in the 9th inning and brings in a middle reliever, after a get a base runner on base then they go to the closer.

Doesn't always happen.

I see a lefty come in to face my heart of the order (all righties) more often though.
