Re: Do you intentionally throw off speed pitches up in the zone?

I like to take a pitcher with a good curveball and sneak one up in the zone a couple times a game. If I miss high, it's all good still. I don't know if it matters against the CPU though, not like you can truly surprise them like you could a human opponent.

Tried to hook one in on the high inside corner against Ryan Braun in a game yesterday. I was hoping to freeze him. The pitch ended up dead center, and the hit ended up in the left field bleachers.

I do not throw change-ups or splitters up in the zone intentionally unless it is also off the plate.

Is there a "So rarely it's statistically insignificant" option?

Only time I would even consider it is with a pitcher who has a great 12-6 so I could try and drop it at the top at the already too high strike zone in the game.

But even then the situation would have to be okay to risk it.

Against CPU, mostly not.

Against human, yes.

Good online players seem to use it very effectively.

Same. High changeups are one of the few pitches to get WS guys out

Against a human, I might throw a 12-6 way above the strike zone and see if the player is fooled by the sharp downward motion.

But no, 99% of the time, I'm not going to risk giving up a homerun just for variety's sake.

I drop a curveball in a fastball count quite a bit, works too.
