I don't see a MLB 1B for 1B swap unless you are taking on a bad contract or there are some odd circumstances. We've gone over this a bunch in this thread, but the main types of trades are either 1. MLB player(s) for prospect(s), 2. prospect(s) for MLB player(s), 3. MLB player for MLB player at another position, or rarely 4. prospect for prospect at another position. You don't see teams trading for and from the same position in the same MLB deal.
Because there's things the Indians could use out of 1B better. I didn't think this was such a hard concept to understand. You also don't see almost any trades done in this thread in real life, so what's your point ?

Why don't you just throw Lonnie at 1B and trade Santana for an outfielder or something?

I could however naquin is going to be on the opening day roster, possibly starting line up , and the other 2 OF prospects are knocking on the door as well so I wouldn't want to road block them. Now if I could package Brantley and one of the 3 prospects for an elite and younger than Brantley OF I could add an OF. Plus I don't think Chisenhall has played 1B and he was rough at 3B

My point is that your original trade premise did not make sense to me. So I said as much in the hopes of steering you to something more plausible.

Of course we aren't able to predict actual MLB trades in this thread, but if you ask for help in this thread and don't like the feedback you're getting, just do what you need to do. You could trade Carlos Santana for Mike Trout and there's nothing anyone can do to stop you.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

So I don't have any specific targets, but I want to get Sandoval off the Red Sox. His contract sucks, he is actively hurting my team, and I would like to give someone decent a chance to play.

The only thing for me is I am unwilling to include Moncada or Espinoza to do it.

On an unrelated note, I want to see if it's possible to acquire Carlos Carrasco, without including Mookie or Xander, as they will be the two I build around, while trying to eliminate cap space for a big name in the Harper/Machado offseason.

Is there an equally awful contract that you'd trade Panda for? We're talking Pujols-level. Nobody is taking Panda without dumping a worse contract on you.

As for Carrasco, probably not realistic unless you're at the deadline and the Indians are doing poorly, but you're gonna have to be open-minded about good prospects you're willing to part with, such as maybe a package built around Rafael Devers.

With regards to Carrasco, I'd deal from any prospects in the system, provided it was a reasonable cost.

As for Panda, I'd be fine with just about any contract swap provided it is over a shorter period of time, it's the length that kills me more than anything, I'd prefer to get back a pitcher if we're talking bad contracts, but my overall preference would be to just outright dump him, even if it costs a prospect or two to ditch him. Normally I wouldn't ditch a prospect just to be rid of a player, but I never wanted him to begin with.

Lol, I didn't realize Rusney has almost double the amount of remaining money on his deal. So probably Devers/Benintend + Travis/Vazquez, I guess.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

So I'm planning on taking over my beloved Rangers and have my eyes set on the future of the team. I certainly think the team is built to win now but I don't mind making some moves regardless. I want to make a move for Bryce Harper when he becomes a Free Agent in 2019. Now I know realistically, he likely gets money-slapped by Washington before his contract is up. But I have a feeling that he will wind up a Free Agent in The Show. I will need to shed the salaries of both Prince Fielder and Shin Soo Choo if I want to bring in Harper.

I need possible bidders for them, if any, and what it would take to get that done. My only untouchable prospects are Gallo and Tate. I would like to keep one of either Mazara or Brinson. I also intend to resign Beltre (presumably three years) and Desmond (presumably five years). Does this look remotely possible to any of you?
