Q's on Directional Hitting

One, does this year's game have a visual cue for my choice? I'm not seeing it.

Two, what timing is necessary in order to effectuate my choice? Does the left stick have to be in the appropriate direction AT THE TIME OF CONTACT with the ball?

This video explains directional hitting very well. It's from MLB 15, so the visual cue is different. The visual cues are yellow in this video. It is blue arrows in MLB 16.

If you turn off the strike zone & hit zone displays you won't see the blue arrows for directional. This is my first year playing with a clean screen so I'm not sure if it was that way last year. I've also been transitioning to zone hitting too.
