What exactly is the point and what does this do? Do you use it? Thanks

If you are playing a fielding positon, it can help you anticipate how a ball will be hit.

Example: if you see your pitcher throwing an offspeed pitch in a fastball count, you can anticipate it being pulled by the batter. You can choose to shade close to the batters pull side.
