Dont Sleep on the Braves!

Well in 2040 at least, as they have just collected their 2nd Championship in 25 years worth of 'Show simming....

First up, why have I done this? Well the main reason is I wanted to start a franchise with ignorance. A world where everyone and everything is new, so to get to that point... SIM!

In case some of you are interested in how the Baseball world fares in 2040, here are some snippets:

First up Cubbies and in fairness the Cubs were good. 2016-2020 saw 5 straight NL Central pennants, 3 of which saw them go on to the NLCS... of course they would lose all 3.

A gap year saw them come back recharged for 2022 and although it was a Wildcard place, another run to the NLCS would wind up.... short. Count that as 7 seasons, 4 NLCS defeats.

Then it happened 2026, mark it down if you are a betting man. Chicago made it all the way and won it.... but theres a twist. In 2026 the White Sox were in the midst of their own little dynasty and the Cubs would be their victim in the World Series, the middle of the White Sox 3-peat between 2025-27.

So yes the Cubs have made it back to the series, but as of 2040, they still havent won one.

-----

The most successful team of the past 25 years, St. Louis. 5 World Championships from 6 appearances.

The Yankees have added just 1 to their tally, coming in 2024 beating the Marlins.

Boston on the other hand have probably been the most dominant AL team in terms of post season appearances. Yet can only count 3 appearances in the fall classic, winning twice.

-----

As for teams at the other end of the spectrum. The Orioles have made the playoffs once, back in 2027 as AL East champions. They did nothing.

Minnesota float in the same boat as Baltimore, albeit with a more recent showing by winning the Central in 2033.

In the NL, Milwaukee have been the team most shy of success bar a pair of division titles won back to back in the early 2020s. Whilst Colorado would hve been up there with just 1 playoff appearance, until they went on to win it all in 2036 by beating out Seattle.... leaving the Mariners still searching for their 1st 'Chip.

Anyway here is a breakdown of the winners; Note those bolded under their own division won their respective Championship, whilst those in Red, lost in the LCS. Same for the World Series, team in bold won it all.

Wrigley might be a dome before the Cubs win a WS, unless they win it this year. lol
How many homers did it take to win the HR title in 2040?
Also, what was the BA of the batting champ in 2040?
Either league, both questions.
Also, also thanks for simming that far, must've been brutal.

Re: Dont Sleep on the Braves!

Ill add in some player stats here, first up some notable players of today and how they panned out:

Clayton Kershaw, remained a Dodger till the very end (2007-2029), he finished with a 239-108 W/L, 3405.2IP, 3492K and a 2.57 career ERA.

He was part of the early years Dodger 'dynasty (if you can call it that), winning the CY Young in 2016.

Bryce Harper had a more varied story. He remained a National till his deal ran out, winning the NL MVP in 2016 with 46HR, then again in 2018 with 48HR. It was in that off-season he penned a 10 year deal with the Dodgers for $246M (the highest contract this sim has seen).

Harper would retire a Dodger in 2032 with 3076H, 598HR and a career .303AVG.

Jose Fernandez (MIA) is probably the highlight story of them all. He would be NL MVP in 2017, 2019 and 2023. NL CY Young in 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023. In the 2018 off-season he would join Harper in the Dodger spending spree as the LA club committed $217M to him over 7 years.

His career came to a close in 2028 with 201-95 W/L, 3032IP, 3290K and a ERA of 2.65, ending his career as a Tampa Bay Ray.

Other career notables include:
Adrian Beltre finishing on 3076H
Miguel Cabrera (retired a Tiger) 3624H, 667HR
Craig Kimbrel with 766SV
Mike Trout remained an Angel but never reached 'super' heights with 2893H and 514HR
A-Rod succumbed to age in 2017 with 1 last year in Texas, finishing with 705HR
Anthony Rizzo 'Mr Cub' would win the NL MVP in 2021, 2022 and 2024 before finishing in 2026 with 494HR.

-----
Onto matters current, NYY 3B Mac Henley lead the AL with 38HR, whilst winning the AL MVP award. At 32, the man from Wisconsin is a relative power hitter in this era with 5 straight years of 30+ HR.

Leading the league in HR would be Archie Doby, 35 year old Catcher on the Giants. He clubbed 41, as the 35 year old 'vet peaked in the Giants run to the NLCS.

As for batting champ, the AL would be led by 38 year old Lance Parrish who hit .326 for the Blue Jays. He would earn a 1 year $5M deal with the Dodgers off the back of that season.

Doby would also win the NL batting award with a .314AVG.

Re: Dont Sleep on the Braves!

This is very interesting, I may have to do this for my franchise SIM, of course I have a roster composed of nothing but created players for all the teams that I used back in MLB 15.

I'd like to know who the top stars are currently in your franchise mode
