I play every single game. It does two things for me. I see how I hit with certain guys and I use dynamic difficulty so it sets my level for the regular season.Comment

Yeah Spring Training gives me an idea of what guys can/could contribute to the team should they need to be called upon due to injury or poor play from current major leaguer.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Yeah I don't play EVERY game but I'd estimate that a third sounds about right. I try to use all my pitchers to get a feel for em, and play at least 20-25 ABS for my position players

Re: Do You Guys Play Spring Training In Franchise Mode?
I play them all, though sometimes I'll use player lock if I'm looking at a kid/guy in particular.
For example:
-In one franchise, I picked up Piscotty. I never have used him, so I'll player lock with him a few times to get an idea of his stance/swing and what he can do.
-In that same franchise, I took a pitcher in Rule 5. I'll player lock with him to get an idea of his stuff and what his pulse circles look like.
-I'll play as prospects that look promising, even if I don't plan to put them on the active roster. For example, Jesse Winker is looking better, I'll player lock him to see how his skills are playing now and put a timetable on him (I might then play him in AAA as player lock as that timetable nears or his ratings growth warrants a quicker re-evaluation.
-In my carryover, it's fictionals galore, so I'm at least player locking some of the new faces as well as the situations above. Often I'll just go ahead and play full games (or full pitch-only or hit-only games).
-If I'm pondering a spring/early season trade for a guy I think I can get, I'll player lock as him for a game or two for the same reasons above.
That's usually how I do S.T. I end up playing SOMETHING on each day, even if it's player lock. I find it keeps me engaged, keeps me "thinking baseball" and I can put the "eye test" (see how their tools play on the field in various situations) on guys after reading their "scouting report" (ratings).Last edited by KBLover; 07-01-2016, 07:31 PM."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Do You Guys Play Spring Training In Franchise Mode?
I always skip spring training in year 1 as I like to start my franchise up with the MLB rosters the same as they are in real life. If I'm beyond year 1 though, say in year 2 for example, I would definately play some. I don't think I will ever play all of Spring training though.Last edited by Rocket32; 07-02-2016, 10:50 AM.Comment

I sim each day of ST the first year, then play every game after including ST the following years.Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players
CFB 25 The absolute GOAT!!!
MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.Comment

Re: Do You Guys Play Spring Training In Franchise Mode?
Year 1 I sim to opening day, after that I play 1 spring game to play with my new guys. Playing the regular season/playoffs takes long enoughComment

Re: Do You Guys Play Spring Training In Franchise Mode?
I try to play Spring Training realistically, including using 60-70 players to try to test out guys competing for bench and bullpen spots and prospects that aren't yet ready but who I still want to see.
I turn on manual injuries and put as many players on the 60 day DL as I can to free up spots on the 40, and I'll keep removing guys from the low end of the roster who have no chance of getting claimed.
Once the regular season comes I set my "real" 40 man roster and option down players accordingly.Comment

It took awhile but I just finished my spring training with the Jays. I will play all 162 games of the season. May be playing while The show 17 comes out though.Comment

Re: Do You Guys Play Spring Training In Franchise Mode?
I usually play at least one game vs. each team. Seems to give me a chance to scout their teams and my youngsters.Comment

Re: Do You Guys Play Spring Training In Franchise Mode?
I sim every game, manually send-down my pitchers before ST ends, then let the CPU take care of the position players after advancing to the regular season.
If I were going to play spring training, I'd mostly use those games to adjust settings and sliders and such if I felt the need to change things up, so they won't interfere with the games that count.Comment
