Any update on this I am having the same problem!

I also tried hiring and firing some coaches to see if it helped but not as far back as pre season.

I noticed that when looking at coaches to hire they would have different ratings for different jobs. i.e. All positive as a 3b coach, but as a hitting coach they have different traits and some may be negative. Could those negative traits somehow be applying even though you hired him at the position with all positive traits?

I think my friend you might be a genuis!

I just did a quick investigation so its small sample size and I only looked at the speed stat not any of the others but it seems to be exactly what you mentioned!

I had my hitting coach (who didn't mention speed under the hitting coach category) as -2 spd as a manager, base coach and farm director. Same story for my pitching coach.

I fired those 2 coaches, hired two new coaches that I double checked did not affect the speed stat at all in any of the coach tabs and then went and played a game and eureka their speed was at the stated level!

In fact it was 1 higher than normal because 2 of my coaches have a +1 speed stat. However I would have to do more research to find out why if they both have +1 it didnt add up to +2 because before it was definitely the -2 of both coaches adding up to my -4 spd in game. Maybe the farm director only affects minor league players I don't know.

I was hoping this would solve my other problem which I laid out in the thread "massive minor league player stat changes" in which my minor league players have a -7 fielding stat in game, but that seems to have stayed the same. So more testing for sure but you seem to be on the right track!

It happens on my offline Season (not franchise) as well. It fluctuates a few points from time to time.

It also seems to fluctuate more with the faster runners (80 and above).

Morale doesn't seem to be the issue, nor coaches as they have remained the same for the past several seasons (I'm in year 5).

If it makes any difference at all, which I doubt it should, my players are all created characters.
