Which quadrants of the zone do you choose to swing at?

Let's assume you had 100% perfect pitch recognition. I know often times we get fooled but I am asking for learning sake. I'm not sure which zones are good ideas to swing at and which to not swing at. Which of the these nine areas of the zone would you swing at?

Would it be the 6 zones on the side of the hitter? Are you more strict and would rather not swing at up and in/low and in which happen to be strikes? Do you ever want to swing at pitches on the outer 1/3rd of the plate in a non-situational hitting appearance?

What is the 'correct' approach?

Re: Which quadrants of the zone do you choose to swing at?

The answer is complicated and depends on the hitter/pitcher and the game state.

If it's a lowball thrower like Tanaka, il sit on the bottom 3, knowing that his main strategy is to throw low strikes, and to get me to chase a splitter falling out of th zone. give up the occasional high fastball to sit on something left up in the strike zone I can drive.

If it's a flamethrower I'm looking up hoping he gets greedy with the high fastballs.

If it's 2 strikes just have to think fastball and adjust to off speed until you get a pitch to hit, so you really just need to stay central and try to react.
