Is it just me, or is it time for them to improve on player models?
Most players in the game just seem way too short and stocky/thick.
WISports,
No its not just you I do agree that MLB player models and user created players body types can use some improvements. However I personally don't think we will see this until 2019 even though in my MLB The Show experience this has not changed since MLB 2014.
I say this because there is only so much that can be done in a game cycle for example. Look at Madden 17 overall the game is improving incrementally from its Madden 25 (PS4) and I think in 2019 it will be close to what everyone has been wanting so long for.
Even though the Face Scans improve slightly each year in MLB The Show it possibly might take a bigger effort to improve overall player models and animations.
I suspect in 2019 MLB The Show will be fantastic! But this also depends on the direction the game will continue to go more modes or a realistic approach.
It is certainly not just you. SCEA themselves acknowledged this a few years ago when they slightly stretched players bodies out and gave them slightly longer arms and legs, but opted to not actually redo the player models. But if you can imagine, they were even more comical looking 4 or 5 years ago prior to MLB 11. Not to mention for years and k believe still to this day, height does not show up properly when players are standing with each other
I think they are quite good but need adjusting in the coming years just to stay with the time. Not every "large" or "fat" player has the same body type of Pablo Sandoval. There should also be a difference for a skinny outfielder like say Lorenzo Cain or Ben Revere versus a large muscular player like Aaron Judge or Mike Trout. They shouldn't have the same upper body.
I'm in the they don't bother me group but could use some upgrades. Give us some different options for each categories, thin, muscular thin, normal, bulky, heavy, fat, etc. Just some examples of what I'd like to see.
The players models in The Show pale in comparison to Madden or NBA 2k.
I know it's a matter of memory with so many players, but the lifelike player models in the two aforementioned games make The Show models look like clay in a lot of cases.

It has nothing to do with memory lol. You don't create a flagship MLB product based on a ten year old hardware design. The PS4 is what sells. The MLB team would be smart to start dropping the PS3 version very soon if they want people to believe their next gen ambitions.
And no these player models are not okay. They are altogether pretty old and inaccurate.
