Free agency signings need to be revamped

I understand that is can be very difficult to implement real life contracts in the game due to the MLBPA agreements, but so far in the franchises ive run players are not demanding realistic amounts of money on their contracts. For example, most recently in my franchise Jamie Garcia became a free agent. The last two years he posted an era of around 2.6 and is an 84 overall. In real life he would likely command a contract anywhere from 15-20 million dollars a year (give or take a couple mil a year) for about 4-5 years. In the show however he only demanded half that (about 8 or 9 million). That is just one example and I hope that SCEA can make it so players in the 80s ranges also get lucrative contracts as they would in real life.

Also another note, I feel like they should have smaller market teams also attempt to sign good free agents as well. I understand that obviously the big market teams such as the Yankees and Red Sox will be the ones most realistically targeting the most valuable free agents but every so often other teams in smaller markets will also attempt to spend money on some of the second tier free agents. This especially becomes a problem for those that use real life player contracts and have budget off because these teams will simply try to sign every free agent possible, even when they dont need someone in their position and without any concern over resigning some of the younger stars on their team to more lucrative once they near free agency.

There may need to be a hidden new rating that rates performance over the last couple seasons. That way, it could act separate and apart from OVR we see (though I'd rather see the "performance rating" since that might be more informative).

Or base it on WAR or FIP, since those are now tracked. Another way to get OVR out of the way or at least another factor (that way a stud with a struggle of a season or a SEI wouldn't go super cheap).

Great point. What I'm going to start doing is simply editing the free agents that will sign with teams at the end of the postseason and editing then back down when they get signed so they get more realistic contracts
