How does everyone handle waiver claims?

I'm in season 6, Opening Day, of a franchise I started on MLB 14. Most of the ratings are organic and based off of stock SCEA ratings. Since I'm six years in there are a lot of players who are now out of options and have been placed on outright waivers coming out of ST. Players like James Paxton, Sean Nolin, Yangervis Solarte, etc.

My question is do you guys claim players like if it someone you need/want or do you put house rules on yourself and let them clear waivers based on the thought that in real life their teams wouldn't actually outright them?

Myself, if I feel that there is a player that can help my ball club available, I go after them/sign them.

I play to win.

That was my feeling as well. In the offseason I wanted a Mike Montgomery type of lefty who could pitch multiple innings but didn't find a trade I liked. Paxton fits that mold perfect (Show version probably not in RL) but I was feeling kind of guilty because in RL their is probably zero chance the Mariners would outright him.

Today is his last day on waivers so I'm claiming him as soon as I finish my in game save.

Even if you did kinda feel weird about claiming a guy like him, remember that you're 6 years in to a franchise from 14. So you're like 4 years ahead of current time, who knows what could happen.

In baseball terms that's a LOT of time, just look at all the guys that would never be released or waived or traded that actually were. Just speaking of Seattle, remember when everyone said Pineda was UNTOUCHABLE lol then that offseason the Yanks got him for Montero who practically never played for Seattle.

Remember this is sports gaming, ANYTHING can happen.
