Re: Help me make a purchase.

Once you do get into a franchise mode, I'd suggest taking a good while to read through the "Franchise glossary" section to get an understanding of certain concepts-- 40 man roster, options, arbitration, Rule 5 Draft, etc.

You have minor league teams not entirely dissimilar from junior teams in European football, but with a good amount of nuance to them.

Others have said that you can allow CPU to control a lot of this, which is good...I for one enjoy the immersive experience of handling all of my roster moves, etc., but it can be overwhelming.

Re: Help me make a purchase.

Hi Yesh,

This game is the most robust version of a baseball game out there. I love it, but then, I love Baseball itself. Since you would be involved with the sport on an interactive level.

The extreme basics for the rules of the game are simple enough. 9 regular innings. Each inning divided in half between two teams. Three outs per half-inning. Offense continues to hit until the ball is caught when in play three times. If the ball is hit out of the field of play to the left of the left foul line, right of the right foul line or out of play behind the place the ball is "foul" which counts as a strike unless it is the final strike of the at bat in which case there are unlimited fouls which can be hit. There are Three strikes to an out. Four pitches out of the "Strike Zone" = a ball. Four balls, and the player takes the next base in the progression of bases from right to left. Players on base move to the next base, possibly scoring if on third...etc.

It is a game of stats, and you can drown in them. On TV, the game can be pretty boring to watch compared with the likes of many other sports, but that's deceptive. Baseball has more action per play than American Football for example.

Since this game let's you do anything from simply manage the game, to playing the game without creating a player, to creating players, to playing card games based off of the stats and fantasy teams, this game has every possible way you might enjoy the game. It's not an easy sport, and coming from a country which doesn't favor Baseball, it's easy to see why you might be on the fence, but I hope you become a life-long fan of the sport. Welcome to the Show!

Re: Help me make a purchase.

Yesh, have you played Don Bradman 14 or 17?
If so, let us know how cricket compares to baseball. I would sure like to get ahold of this game, esp.if it isnt too difficult a learning curve.
Would be interesting IMO to see part of baseballs heritage on the playstation. JB Bernstein should do a followup to Million Dollar Arm and scour England for pitchers.

Re: Help me make a purchase.

Question -- I have it pre ordered at GameStop ... BUT there is no midnight launch so I would have to wait until release day to play ... if I order through the PS show can I pay at midnight? Also, will I get my pre order bonuses if I pre order through ps store?

Under no circumstances ever buy DB15. It's a terrible game let alone a representation of cricket. I never even considered 17 as viable because to fix the gameplay issues from 15 will probably take till a DB 19 is released. If you still have a last gen console lying around I would recommend dusting it off and picking up Brian Lara's cricket. It's a really good game and would be a good introduction to the sport.

Re: Help me make a purchase.

I wasnt either a big baseball follower. I started with mlb 12 the show and learnt more and more about baseball by playing the show. I dont know if there is big diffrent between 16 and 17. maybe when you have a ps4 pro it is easier to go with 17.
