Batter Pitcher Analysis Needs to be expanded

Since it's introduction into the series in 08, it has been a very welcomed addition a great tool that in its infancy was easy to access with the press of a D-pad.

The amount of strategy this tool afford was and is priceless.

Hi everyone. My name is Lorne Asuncion, Designer for the MLB: The Show franchise. I'm here to explain two of our new features this year: the Pitcher and Batter Analysis. One thing we wanted to improve on and enhance was the strategic thinking of the hardcore sports gamer who play this game. With the Pitcher [...]

The picture below is an example of the Pitcher Analysis. It shows that Josh Beckett likes to throw his changeup very low and sometimes out of the strike zone. The Yankees haven’t had too much success with that pitch by only getting one hit out of Beckett’s last nine changeups

In another Batter Analysis picture below, you can see the how the Padres have been doing against Brad Penny by looking at the Hot/Cold Zones on the right-hand side of the screen. It shows that the Padres haven’t had any success on pitches that are down and away or down and inside. On the flip side, they’ve gotten hits when Penny leaves a pitch around the heart of the plate.

The next time we got some BAT/PIT analysis mention was a Dev feedback thread, that had some great suggestions, but it appears to have been a fruitless inquiry because nothing came of the inquiry.

This feature has taken a back seat for a number of years and ironically been pushed to the pause menu to out of sight out of mind.

As the Dev suggestion thread I would love to see this feature pushed back to the forefront, because it is a Valuable Tool. I would love for the BAT/PIT to expand into the presentation package via OSD's and Commentary. Now that Commentary talks about the history, it would be nice for the BAT/PIT analysis screen to pop up to give you a great look for strategy purposes.

We just had a Franchise Stream and this info was nowhere to be seen, they did put emphasis on options being hidden away and not being used. I wish they would have put emphasis on making this tool accessible as it once was in the not to distant past.

    Make BAT/PIT Analysis Great Again.

Could always make it available to access with the touchpad if there is no room on the d-pad.
I am not sure what the touchpad is used for in 17 but feel it hasn't been utilized very well so far in The Show, i know it had a use in 14 but don't think it has been used at all the last few versions.

If you mean one button push and you can access it in a pause menu then I agree but I would not want it on the screen during the game. At some point the screen can get too cluttered.

No, I'm talking about an OSD when talking about match ups batter versus pitcher, They already have history stats. It brings an informative OSD while the commentary is going, it adds to the presentation as well as keep the player informed. This is not a constant OSD, just a quick show of what's going on, during batter walk up or a quick show during an at bat.

Didn't make the list, and it got buried deeper in menus.

Year 3 of this request, hoping it has moved up the priority list and gets implemented this year. SDS, please make this tool relevant again.

At the very least I'm hoping its brought to the d-pad for quick access so I don't have to pause and drill down to find it.

Necessary tool to have success on the higher difficulty levels...at least in my opinion.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
