You know.. as much as I want HDR and the best possible graphics, give me high framerate mode all day long with a game like this. I've always wanted nothing but silky smooth gameplay with The Show.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro

I am literally right on the fence about buying a 4K TV now for this game. I have a Pro and planned on getting a 2017 Samsung model for when RDR2 was released. Now with this info, it is really making me want to purchase a HDR 4K like now. But then I hear the picture quality is even better for gaming on the 2017 models.

Just wondering how much of a dramatic difference it will realistically make. Will the Pro upgrade in picture on my 1080 be enough? Guess I will wait until the fellow OS'ers give their reviews.

Why rush and spend $1,000+ (if you want the best experience in a 55"+ you won't find it cheaper) when you'll still gain the benefits with a 1080p and wait to catch a big sale? No need to cheap out as the benefits without some main features won't render much difference than what you got now.

If you have the free cash, go for it, but I'm in the same boat and I've decided to wait for a sale as it's not going to be life changing going from 1080p to 4K. I'm more of a framerate guy, however.

That was my whole point. Will the difference be that great in making an upgrade to a HDR 4K TV? If you have a Pro and a nice 1080 TV, is it ultimately a waste of the Pro's potential to NOT go 4K?

Like I said, I'm probably going to wait for the 2017 Samsung models.

Now is the perfect time to buy a TV as the new models just rolled out. Sure you can wait but you can also spend a lifetime waiting for prices to get lower and technology to get better.

I made the change to a Samsung ks850d a few weeks ago and I have zero regrets. Each day I wake up eager to turn on the tv like it's Christmas!!

I'm sure the native 4K output will look great on a 4K screen but how much that upgrade is worth is really just up to you.

Which 4K TV do you have, and are you turning on Game Mode in your TV's options menu? Game mode will improve your input lag.

I'm asking which TV you have because it really depends on the TV. On some TVs, 4K has lower input lag, while on other TVs, 1080p has lower input lag. On some TVs, turning on HDR doesn't change input lag, but on others HDR makes input lag worse.

For example, my Vizio P65 has a 1080p input lag on HDMI 1-4 of 50.8 ms and a 4K input lag on HDMI 1-4 of 43.8 ms. HDMI 5 has an input lag of 16.3 ms regardless of resolution. HDR is only available on HDMI 1-4, but input lag stays the same whether it is on or off.

You can find a lot of this technical information about most TVs over at http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews. They also provide calibration settings for every TV they have reviewed, however these calibrations are not really meant for playing video games. More for TV and movie viewing.

Sony is bringing HDR support to all of it's new 1080p TVs. So you don't have to shell out 4K money just to get HDR support. http://www.techradar.com/news/sony-i...s-will-benefit
