That sounds like exactly what they're offering, and I like hearing that it's been done already in another game (news to me)

Next year we will move to a 4K/PS Pro set up for sure. But this year we are staying put.
Regular PS4 and a 1080p TV gives us none of the new options if you don't have an HDR TV.

He is wrong on that, Jare.

Only option that won't work on 1080p is the 4K option.

Edit::

Maybe you can enable the 4K on a 1080p TV like tomb raider. I was just under impression they meant you had to have the capability of 4K so I am a little unsure on that. But the other two deff should work according to the developer.

You have been so helpful today man. Really. It's much appreciated. By the way, I sent you a PSN friend request over the weekend.

I'm glad to hear this as I just upgraded to a new 4K TV and a PS4 Pro recently, cannot wait to try it out!

No problem, luckily worked slowed down enough to tune in right as they started the pro improvements and listened to every word to make sure I wasn't crazy for buying a Pro with a working PS4 already LOL.

I'll accept that friend request when I hop on!

I just had a super long day and could be having a brain malfunction (sitting in my office right now just tired out) but I think ROTTR is the only game to offer those three specifically. I know Nioh offers three modes, all with dynamic resolution (30 fps and high resolutions, 30-45 fps and slightly boosted resolutions, and 60fps with "base" resolutions). Pro and Vanilla all have these options I think but the Pro just gets higher resolutions in each mode. I could be wrong about that.

Games like inFamous offer unlocked framerate with 1080p vs higher resolution (I think 1800p) downsampling and 30fps. Not sure if you played those or not on your Pro, my man.

Anyway, I am rambling now and probably off topic. I think my original intent was just to notice that the three labels in The Show pics (in the OP) seem similar to the three labels in ROTTR so I assumed they had the same or similar functions.

Other part of post

But yeah, for those uninitiated with the Pro, and the upcoming Scorpio/Elite (Whatever they call it), a 4k image, or an 1800p image, or 1440p, or any image rendered internally above 1080p, can/will be downsampled on 1080p displays with the exception of a few games that specifically disabled that feature (like TLOU:Remastered, which still confuses me). Downsampling, for the most part, kind of acts like increased AA as it just cleans up the image, jaggies, just adds a little layer of "shine" and "pop" if you will, for 1080p users.

I don't know much about HDR, as my BenQ is not an HDR capable monitor, so that aspect is beyond my realm if experience.

Yeah, I think I'd caution anyone who wants to run out and buy a Pro to wait for impressions from those of us who already own one, regarding exactly what each of these options mean. For example, does "high frame rate" include 60 FPS in out-of-play scenes as well as gameplay?

I at least know that even the regular PS4 is fully capable of 60 FPS in this game because I've seen that (at times) in the various videos (not streams - those lose too much quality) that we know are on a regular PS4 dev kit. So I don't feel like regular PS4 owners should feel like they're getting a raw deal on this.
This is definitely one that Digital Foundry will do a breakdown on. Will look forward to that analysis and see which mode they recommend. They recommended the action mode (60 fps) for Nioh and it was, for me personally, the best way to play. Going off my base assumptions I will probably go with the FPS mode in this game unless enhanced visuals plays very smoothly as well
