Well I have been scared out of it seeing that with 30 team control some people have had the draft freeze on them.

I don't want to go through that for hours to have that happens.

This summer I will draft a fresh new team but I plan on using Jethrotulls 1987 90man roster and run a retro 80's fantasy team!!

Will play as the Yankees.

In the meantime I am fully invested in The Matheny Manifesto Year 2.

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Alright since the rosters dropped yesterday decided to get back to this this year. Had my team last year but got so busy didn't have much time for it. Here is to hoping this year I can play it more.

SO I wanted an NL team. So I took the Dodgers. I already drafted the team. I can't remember but I believe I had the 14th Pick

LineUp

CF Inciarte
2B Hernandez
SS Correra
1B Bird
RF Springer
LF Benintendi
3B Bregman
C Contreras

Bench

C Rupp
UTL Rodriguez
SS Flores
LF Hazelbaker
CF Marisnick

Rotation

Syndergaard
Nola
Snell
Taillon
Urias

Bullpen

Edwards Jr
Capps
O'Day
McGee
Diekman
Strop
CP Colome

I did trade for a few of these players due to having extra prospects I was willing to deal. Those players were: Hernandez, Strop, McGee, Marisnick, Rodriguez, Hazelbaker, Springer.

Prospects
SP Glasnow
SP Martes
SP Allard
2B Albies
SS Rodgers
CF Frazier
CF Meadows
RF Judge

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Forgot to mention that only reason I traded from springer is that Judge is not ready to play so most likely next season I will trade Inciarte and move springer to center and put Judge in RF and Benintendi will be ready to lead off in the batting order

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

So I messed around today with this and wanted to see if I have opportunities for doing things different to promote parity.

I will control one team but for the draft I will draft a 25 player roster for each team.

First I drafted SP and went in order of best available until my team came up, I drafted who I wanted. I did this for all 5 SP for each team.

I struggled with what should be next, RP or CP. the down side is CP there is not much variety, so I could see teams having stronger closers and others stronger bullpens, which I think works.

Next came for what to do next. I first thought just going position by position but after doing that realized I could be stacking rosters with teams in the middle not getting top tier talents.

Am I bets doing best player available but just not doubling up on positions at first. My first test allowed me to get people like Harper, Bryant, and others while other teams didn't get top tier guys, my team felt stacked.

Any other thoughts?

-Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY excited about this team and kind of upset I have to go to work this evening lol. Theres something about OSFM rosters that make the franchise's that much better. Looking forward to developing this team! The plan going foward is to ease Yasiel Sierra into the starting rotation, depending on performance. I feel like this team has a very solid nucleus, with some key guys locked up long term, a few guys with arb control, and a nice mix of veterans. Can't wait to take on the rays to open the season.

** There will be very in depth series by series updating going on for this franchise **

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Opening day Vs the Padres. I know if this was a regular season game you would be like it's just the Padres and they got their *** kicked, but hey this is a Fantasy Draft team so it was actually a great game.

It was Syndergaard Vs deGrom

Both pitchers pitched great but one had to come out on top and that was Snydergaard who pitched 7 innings of 1 hit ball to get the win. deGrom took the loss giving up 1 run on 8 hits.

1B Greg Bird drove in the only run of the game on an RBI single in the 3rd inning.

Carlos Correa went 2-4 with 2 doubles.

Colome notched his first save of the season.

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

I was gonna do a normal franchise mode this year, but I couldn't bring myself to. Theres just something so satisfying about putting together a team of guys all around the league and watching them grow together.

Here's the team I drafted today that I'm gonna run with. I'm the Mets.

Lineup:

LF Kyle Schwarber (L)
2B Rougned Odor (L)
RF Nelson Cruz (R)
1B Eric Thames (L)
SS Addison Russel (R)
3B Righty, cant quite remember his name
C Blake Swihart (S)
CF Rajai Davis (R)
Pitcher

Rotation:

Chris Sale (L)
Michael Fulmer (R)
Adam Wainwright (R)
Francisco Liriano (L)
Bartolo Colon (R) (I had to)

My closer is Craig Kimbrel, and I have Luis Severino in long relief and spot starting duties. He'll likely have the starting job once someone goes down or if not, definitely by next season.

The team isnt all that great on paper, but thats what I like about it. I have work to do as a GM to make this team a championship team. Whether that means dealing Nelson Cruz at the deadline, or trading my prospects for some help. Only time will tell.

Re: Official MLB The Show 17 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

Opening day was no disappointment for fans across the league. Unfortunately for Yankees fans, it was as the yanks lost 5-3 in the bottom of the 16th inning.

Marcus stroman was solid, giving up 3 runs over 6 innings. Yasiel Sierra pitched 8 innings of shutout ball in relief, allowing 3 hits while striking out 3 and enducing a ton of ground outs. After an outing like that, Sierra may force the Yankees to thrust him into the rotation sooner than later.

Mike Trout & Michael Brantley each threw a runner out at home.

The big problem for the Yankees was getting runners across the plate, as they let two bases loaded situations go by the wayside. No need to worry long term though. The yanks will look to rebound in game two of the season.
