    Retro mode: A missed opportunity

Played a couple games in retro mode and I absolutely love it. What are your guys thoughts? I really wonder why it's just exhibition games. Is that right? I have looked for a way to play a season without any luck.

I like the regular game too but this is a nice twist.

    Re: Retro Mode

I wish the on screen stat display could be used in season mode but with regular button pplay not the retro one button
I like the hitting, and being able to move in the box
I do not like the pitching, as I enjoy the full complement of the the pitching game as it has been in the last few years. I also hate pitching from that camera view but since this is a couch game against a buddy, he aint gonna wanna hit from a pitchers camera view.
I hope this isnt a one and done, maybe sds can expand on this next year.If not, I hope it at least will stay for years to come. I give retro mode a solid B+ in its first year.

      Retro mode: A missed opportunity

This mode is great. The ability to see all the animations and physics at work is so much fun and it looks like a real game from this view. But its a one-off mode. You play, its crazy fun, and all the stats are for nothing. No way to carry over anything.

I believe they should flesh retro-mode out completely next year and add the ability to play franchise. Its just so good, I want to play it in franchise.

They would need to add full options of course: generated counts, replay, sliders (super important to dial in stats), commentary, etc. I also would need to mute that ball sound effect and would be nice to have fielding camera which shows the ball in flight vs. just watching a shadow. Here's to hoping (along with additional camera options (my personal pet peeve)), that they continue expanding this mode.

I merged a few threads that all seemed to be heading in the same direction. Just trying to clean up a bit.

I played it for a bit the other day just to get the trophies for it. Really not a fan. Probably won't touch it again unless my son wants to play.

If they can add a simple season mode I would be happy.

Oh and an online option to play against friends.

Retro mode is awesome. If your old enough to remember how fun games use to be with out all the unnecessary stuff. This mode is genius. Madden and 2k need a retro mode in there game. Hope 🙏 it catches on.

So everyone likes retro mode, but want to make changes to make it like regular mode? People crack me up sometimes. The point is, it's like a baseball game from many years ago. therefore, no ball trails, franchise mode, etc. Lol.

Tried it only because I cannot access online for Diamond Dynasty. Played a game, almost fell asleep half way through. X, x,x,x,x..... And the graphics hurt my eyes, there is a reason why I bought a PS4 not a PS1.
Never touching it again. Wish they used all the manpower and resources wasted on this mode to make sure servers work from day one.

The graphics are the same though? Unless you meant to say graphical overlays?

And the manpower to create this and get the servers ready are not comparable nor are they likely the same people. That's a ridiculous statement to make.

I played a game last night and was not a fan, in fact I thought it was rather corny. I will play it enough to get the trophies but that will be it. I could see it being good for a younger child or for a quick couch co-op game. Its just not for me.

If I wanted to play a retro baseball game I would just turn on my NES and play RBI baseball, Bases Loaded, Baseball Stars, or any number of retro baseball games that I have a much greater nostalgia for.

I think retro mode is for people like me who grew up playing Ken Griffey Jr Baseball on SNES. If you didn't, that might be why you don't get it.

Played 3 innings yesterday and it's gonna be it for me probably. But I'm glad people are enjoying it.

I guess I played too much of Intelivision & Atari baseball when a kid ( I know I'm not 20 anymore :-) to enjoy an 8-bit GUI anymore lolll

I think all anyone was hoping for was a way to just play a season like baseball games from many years ago let you do. Nobody is talking RTTS or DD here.
