Check swings

I've started to notice that since patch 1.04 that I'm getting some wrong calls on check swings, like the one in the video below where the batter clearly holds up but it's called a strike and I had one earlier in this same game where my batter went around but it was called a ball


I've gotta say for the most part they are called right and I really love the new animations for them but it does creep in now and again and I don't recall it ever happening before the patch last week so I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing this

Ive had that same animation come up before, but not so much that I was overly concerned with it, and I check swing a lot. I just sum it up to bad umping lol. If it happened a lot or all the time, I would just turn off check swing appeal. However, like I said, it doesn't happen enough for me to consider it a issue.

Yep sometimes I clearly go and get away with it. Sometimes I IMO did not go and get called for a strike. It's not often enough to be annoying...I also chalk it up to bad umpiring and the 'human' element creeping in.

This year it is a vast improvement from 16. We know the glitched/choppy check swing animations that plagued 16 and the non working appeals.

Yep sometimes I clearly go and get away with it. Sometimes I IMO did not go and get called for a strike. It's not often enough to be annoying...I also chalk it up to bad umpiring and the 'human' element creeping in.

Yeah I agree with what you said, I just think that with these types of checks it's the glitched/bugged check swings that they had in last year's game

True...but at least they are smooth animations and not that choppy clearly broken animation! This is merely a detection issue.

Check Swings are up to the umpires discretion. There isn't a rule saying how far the bat has to be swung. Just food for thought, like Armor said if you can just roleplay and think umpire error then it becomes more enjoyable experience. Kinda good advice for more than just this issue imo.

My biggest issue with check swings are high fastballs. No matter what, if I try to pull back on a high heater, they will not check swing at all. It's always a swing.

This could be where I'm late on it so the slight button press registers as a full swing due to the timing window.

Post patch I had the umpire say "no that's a ball" and it was a strikeout. I also hit a foul ball by the foul pole, the ump yelled foul ball and it was notocabley foul. No home run trot, they just gave me the runs and the next batter walked up.

this is the first time i have encountered this through 7 years of playing the game but check swings are broken. particularly in my favor, and i've had guys do nearly a full swing and without a doubt they are a swing and the ump(s) have been calling a lot of them balls on the check swing appeal, sometimes there isn't even an appeal, just a straight up ball.

i noticed for years people have complained about this and i never agreed or encountered the problem myself although in recent years there were some borderline calls but this year it actually is broken. i don't have internet at home so i can't upload videos yet but i have been recording them...is anyone else experiencing this? zone plus analog with the stride.

never liked the check swing and its random I swung or not, so its one of the first things I do is turn it off. Check swings still get called if you over commit.
