Re: Anybody else feel like slumps are scripted?

clutch stats vary drastically from year to year so if if examine someone like Captain Clutch Derek Jeter in 2000 late and close situautions he hit .348, in 2002 he hit .238 and for his career he hit .283 late and close, while his career average for all at bats was .310 (his career avg. with men on base was .309, which seems to be what the Show uses for Clutch)
still its great to have a clutch attribute to help differentiate between players, so long as its only a very small boost or subtraction.

incidentally it looks like clutch might kick in whenever there are any runners on base because to get the Pressure Cooker Quirk you need a minimum 85 clutch.
as an aside wish they'd rename this badge Captain Clutch next year, unless thats trademarked by Jeter.

also whenever I'm recreating players from a by-gone era, I use WHIP for pitchers clutch and OPS for hitters clutch because I only want the best players to be clutch, not some .235 hitter who happened to hit 15 for 30 with men on base.

i've always presumed clutch would effect BAwRISP more than anything.

devs have stated it here time and again. I have seen the worst teams beat the best teams about as much as can be expected
and most importantly, I have seen no proof that the Show IS scripted or any evidence of predetermined outcomes

Because there has never been a single shred of evidence that there is.

And dev says otherwise - https://www.reddit.com/r/MLBTheShow/..._are_scripted/

And now I'm leaving this thread.

Re: Anybody else feel like slumps are scripted?

I just find that when I'm hitting really well, I become less patient as I'm expecting to hit everything all over the stadium.

When i take a step back, take some pitches and wait for good ones it tends to come back. It has taken me a while to figure this out and even then I still fall back into it every 20 games or so.

You will have slumps, but stopping them quickly is the key to any prolonged success.

Re: Anybody else feel like slumps are scripted?

These threads usually turn into dumpster fires. Once again, there is no pre-determining of outcomes. The end.

Yes the ratings are or at the very least were determined by a statistical model. I remember reading one article that said there was no human input on the ratings or almost none. That was a few years back, not sure what if anything has changed.

Re: Anybody else feel like slumps are scripted?

I think in a way it is scripted you know if someone like Mike Trout is in a cold streak, that it's 100% chance he will come out of it without a doubt, say if he in the first 2 weeks is hitting 180. you just know he will be 'due' and then blast his AVG up to 330 within a few games.

this does happened in the real world however, but not always what you think will happened, that's the problem with ratings in a Video game, it can be scripted to fit that way.
