Cannot Unsee...

I rely on something similar in stealing bases in RttS. I watch the catcher. I'm not the best at reading the pitcher so I started watching the catcher instead. Any time the pitcher is coming home the catcher will shift slightly in his stance. I'm sure there are better ways to gauge a jump. So far I'm usually in the good to great range on jumps.

What I watch is the pitcher when I'm on base, or if someone is on and I'm at bat, I take a pitch or two and watch the pitchers wind up. Is it a long wind up, what's his front foot do.... Watch the front foot. I don't hold R2 until the pitcher looks, then looks back at the catcher. Then I hold R2 and as soon as he starts to lifts his front foot, I release R2 and take off.

To piggyback on this response for you nulap/ as far as stealing goes. I can't give you elite advice but... when stealing in the show I decide two things initially with the lead off
- I click L1 to lead immediately before he even finishes his animated walk off the base. So by the time the pitcher "Sets" and looks at the runner I'm standing still already with 1 step lead

Other option is to click L1 after he has looked. But it won't be long after before he will start a delivery.

I do not hold R2 and release ; I simply flick it and I place my index finger on the back half of the trigger with the tip of my finger and just reflex it

L1? For me that moves me closer towards the PREVIOUS base. It's r1 that gives me that extra step

But for me, I usually just take a lead step, then watch the pitcher. Pretty easy to gauge and steal the base. I very rarely ever get tagged out, if at all
