Pitcher Usage

Does the game figure in pitcher usage? Meaning, if I dont use a bullpen guy or my Closer per say, 8 days or more and then throw him in a game, will the cpu make him rusty or over rested so to say. Just dont use him, not injured, or fatigued. Just not used. Well thinking about it, lets include a hitter sitting on the bench too.

Franchise SIM is dead. Find your favorite iterations and play it forever. Card games are whats "now" and games will cater in that direction and forget realism.

Just have fun and play :)

I'm not sure on pitchers, but I believe that having a hitter not get at bats over a period of time does have a "negative" effect on their attributes. I say this because there are times that I've called a guy up and when I play the next game I get a message box saying that the player just called up hasn't had any at bats lately. I'm not exactly sure what the message says, but that is the gist of it.

It may be a neat experiment to do, in not pitching a guy in the bullpen or letting a hitter get an at-bat over say 10 games and see if their attributes drop by a point or two.

Actually, about the batter, I do believe you are correct. I have Guyer who is a vs LHP hitter only, and I have gone 8+ days with him and he does struggle when he hits. He has negatives across the board and only bats around .210 ish.

Im in the post season currently (so I dont know if it will have a different effect) but I had a reliever have a bad outing in the ALDS, so maybe I'll experiment with him, (currently in game 5 of the ALCS) by not using him till if I make the WS and see if more negatives show up, or how he does if I use him after a long sit.

I'll be interested to see what you find out.

Like you, I've noticed that by not pitching a pitcher or giving a hitter at-bats, it seems they struggle more often than not. Now this could all be a placebo effect, but its nice to hear/read that someone else is having a similar experience.

When I get a chance I'll just fire up a random franchise and sim 10+ games and not pitch a certain reliever and have a certain batter sit the bench to see if I get a negative effect on their attributes and report back.

May not be til the weekend until I get the opportunity.

I'll report back my findings also. I already have a hitter (Urshela) who hasnt seen a at bat since game 2 of the ALDS where he pinch hit. He would be going on about 2 weeks. I'll hold out using McAllister also for my test RP.
