Free agents disappearing in off season

Wonder if anyone else has seen this and can offer suggestions. I saw this last year and again in 17: I would release players in the off season so they can be signed by their actual 2018 clubs (Dee Gordon, Tyler Chatwood, Wily Peralta, Mike Fiers thus far). Instead of claiming them off waivers I went through a few days, did the rule 5 draft then went to start signing guys to their teams. They show up in the player search feature, but are not shown in the Free agent pool. I've gone a few days more and still nothing. Like I said I saw this last year and generally am not too concerned as I think a few guys I found at the start of the pre-season but I would prefer to sign them when I have the funds for the off season 2017 free agency. Like I said, they do show up in search (as free agents), so I know they are still in the system, just not sure why they would not be showing up in the pool. Any thoughts are appreciated.
