Yes, but now that the timing window and PCI have been explained a little further I feel like we also need an explanation on how the PCI location is determined when you are not in direct control of it.

This 800000x over!
I could not agree more.

This is why I only use directional hitting. It only takes into account , timing and player ratings which in my opinion is a better representation of real life hitting than Zone. You never really start your swing before the pitch gets there but you do start your timing mechanism like your foot lifting and you hips and hands then as the ball gets there you actually swing

The fact that you can't move the pci after you start your swing is exactly why I don't use zone.

I believe that has changed somewhat.
Can't remember the exact stream but they said PCI will still move (late/early swings...)

Unless I am not understanding it correctly..

I think what people are seeking in being able to move the PCI mid swing is not the same as what they mentioned in the stream. Your timing is affecting travel up or down based on your timing not necessarily the ability to freely move it around while swinging.

Re: Directional Hitting - MLB The Show 18

Gotcha...
I was confused how they said you can still move PCI after you swing if late/early so I have no idea lol
Unless I heard it wrong.. which I probably did.

I liked how Pro Spirits did thiers. If I remember right even 2K let you move PCI freely..

Guess we'll know soon enough.

Re: Directional Hitting - MLB The Show 18

Hi, I’ve always used pure analog before, but after reading these comments, I figured I would give DH a try.

I have some questions about directional hitting.

Am I supposed to “track” the pitch and aim the left stick to where the pitch is located (like zone hitting) or is this purely “I want to hit it to the right side, so I’ll press towards the right even before the pitch is made” type of mode.

I’m not sure which it is.

While taking BP, the PCI does not move even if I use the left stick far to one side.

If it is purely a “wishful hitting” regardless of the pitch location, then I don’t understand the mode or its advantages.

It would make sense that if you read the pitch well, you’d be able to go with the pitch and be successful. But, the PCI never moved.

Some clarification would be nice from some people who play with this mode.

Thanks
