I couldn't really tell, but in the Red Sox rivalry video it looks like Hanley has longer dreads.

It also showed Benintendi with long hair.

Well if that is the case the only work around is to bring his SCEA CAP from 16 all the way to 18 (while getting correct service time) and just edit his appearance (don't give him any audio names) and he'll keep his commentary lines.

I don’t see anything wrong with Benintendi as we all know he will most likely grow out his hair. It is my preference to always use the art work done by SCEA artist.

That's perfectly fine. This is a workaround for those who would rather do that. It also allows people to adjust his appearance as he adjusts it in real life. This also helps out when SCEA doesn't have a face scan for a player.
