Bad Base Running AI (MLB 17)

First video, there are 2 outs, so absolutely no reason why the runner on 1st should be diving back to first base. Even with less than 2 outs, the runner wouldn't dive back on a ball hit that high in the air.

Second video, why would any runner dive back to first base, on a ground ball? Makes no sense, whatsover.

These were in a franchise mode game. Anyone else seen this?

    Thanks.

I did not buy 17, but there were MAJOR issues with this in 16 (big threads out there if you search) that were later patched. It was game breaking for a while. It was never made perfect, but was greatly improved.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

Thanks! I've seen the thread for 16. Hope they get it right for 18 *fingers crossed*

Is there any way to make your baserunners go on contact without manually sending them after contact is made? If not, that would be a nice addition

          rockme71,

Yes seen this plenty of times during my Player Locked Franchise. Especially considering I watch every inning outside the initial skipped one.

This was in MLB 16 as well. We will see what MLB 18 brings!

For what it's worth in manage mode I don't see it. I see runners needlessly diving back into a bag on a pitch in the dirt sometimes when the catcher picks it up. Do you have base running on auto or manual?

It’s lost me games. Including World Series games.

I have my baserunning on auto, I really don't want to control it at all. Maybe once I get the hang of actually hitting, but for now that's hard enough for me.

I did have a game the other day that had me scratching my head. Runner on 1st with a base hit into RF. RF throws in to 2nd and I see my baserunner has just frozen halfway between 1st and 2nd, just completely stopped running and is standing there. I figured I must have accidentally hit something to cause runners to freeze, but it's the only time I've seen that.

I've never had a player stop between bases on a hit. That would definitely infuriate me as well.

After I posted this I read somewhere that it could have been caused by hitting r2. I didn't think I hit anything, but r2 could be easy to bump on a knee or something so I assume I did that. Maybe I'll test it by purposely hitting r2 on a 2 out fly ball or something
