I think it would have made a lot more sense if the archetypes just affected how quickly your different ratings developed instead of limiting your maximum ability. Not a fan of being limited to such a rigid set of skills

The celebration for me is that it represents a developer moving away from microtransactions (even slightly), which is not something we're seeing much of in this industry right now.

Just watched the first minute of the IGN videos here are some max stats

• Defensive Specialist - Contact Max Rating at 70 and your power maxed at 65
• Good Hands - 99 contact but only 75 power
• Mr. Reliable 99 contact and 70 power
• Field General - 75 cap in both power and contact (why in the hell would anyone choose that one?)
• Power Corner - 99 power and only 75 contact
• Bat First - 80 power and 99 contact

Who the hell is going to pick a defensive specialist or field general? I have a feeling the large majority will pick Bat First

Because a Diamond bat will jack those caps up to elite levels. The equipment matters too. So now you can be that Mr Reliable with great power or that defensive specialist (Lindor) who can also hit the crap out of the ball with the maxed cap and a diamond equipment buff. It is not perfect....and you won't be all 99's but it will be a superstar player indeed.

I don't like that. Is that all of the templates they have?? Why limit attributes in an offline mode anyway? Why couldn't a Mr. Reliable have 85 power? It's just weird.

I think these are only infielders. Depending on if you do an outfielder or pitcher, there are different templates to choose from.
