You have that backwards. To figure out profit you subtract revenue (sales) from costs. While assuming every sale in the first month is $60 is a bit simplistic, him using that figure in an informal discussion isn't really wrong.

If he had said "profit" then that would be a whole 'nother ball of wax.

Yeah, not sure how much I trust these numbers. Certainly I would like to think that some of us drawing a line in the sand on this year's game could cause a much needed course correction at SDS. But, again not sure how much I trust these numbers. I saw an article a few weeks ago that stated this year was The Show's best opening week ever. Factoring in the ever-increasing emphasis on pricey pre-orders and microtransactions and I imagine they could still probably have a better overall year despite fewer total sales.

I also don't really want to gloat over SDS having a down year if that is indeed the case.

No online franchise and a lack of franchise improvements. History is full of companies who went for short term monetization of their game instead of keep building up from the ground as they used to be.

I just hope SDS is not one of those.

A game making less money is never a win for anyone. Not sure why anyone would want them to lose money.

Re: MLB The Show 18 (Week 1 Sales)

I dont think Sony is going to change directions with the Show based on 1 weeks performance
or 2 or 3 or 4. Even if it is the opening week of sales. It would be interesting to see the Show's sales thru say, October of this year vs. other years. The problem is though, Sony might not draw the same correlation that it's online franchise is the culpri. And even if it was they wouldnt know that if they kept online franchise & did away with DD, that sales wouldnt have been far worse (or better) with that model.

End verdict: Much ado.
Case dismissed. Nothing to see here.
Last mod out, feel free to lock the thread door behind.

Re: MLB The Show 18 (Week 1 Sales)

I would be interested, if we are talking numbers, in how much the made post launch in "DLC" sales of stubs, packs etc. As long as that number continues to grow nothing will change in the path they are taking with this game. If they are generating year long revenue, launch week sale are not a worry to them at all.
