As far as "gameplay" goes YES!!!

Gameplay still could be improved in a lot of areas but it's definitely the best playing baseball game I ever played and trust me I have played just about every baseball game.

100% yes. I've been hooked on 18 since release day. The gameplay stays true to its simulation roots and is a complete blast to play.

Really can't recommend this game enough to people.

I know the OP asked specifically about game play but if you have a PS4 Pro and 4K TV the game is drop dead gorgeous graphically, much more so than '17.

Thanks for the replies. I swooped it up for $40 on PSN last night. I do have a 55" samsung ks8500 4ktv and the pro and the game looks awesome. Gameplay does seem better this year so far, although I am still getting too many hits on legend. Tons of singles. First 3 games I played on legend, I had 18, 15, and 11 hits on legend with the A's aganst good pitchers. Will have to mess with sliders.

Another reason is that in '17 you couldn't do this...

The most critical adjustment IMO is fielder reaction and fielder speed both to 3

Your entire hit variety will open up amazingly.

If you see my slider set I am basically playing HOF default on almost every slider except those two and baserunner speed and a couple of minor tweaks.

Game is golden this year at near default.

Unfortunately, 95% of those types of plays end up as wild pitches and free bases. I'm tinkering with the pitcher CONSISTENCY slider (raising it up a bit more than most slider creators here have it) as it seems to impact the number of those plays - which then can be offset by other pitching sliders to compensate. But yeah, that's a cool play / video!
