Pitchers Slow to Cover First Base

Has anyone else had issues with pitchers taking too long to cover first on routine plays? It seems like the only option is for the first baseman to run to the bag and step on it for the out because the pitcher never gets over in time. Thoughts?

Re: Pitchers Slow to Cover First Base

I haven't found this to be an issue this year. Yes there are times that my pitcher doesn't get to the base quick enough and the runner beats it out, but nothing exaggerated nor anything I would consider an issue. For me, each time its happened, the pitcher was beaten by a fast runner who happened to put the ball in a precarious spot.

I have a friend who has the same issue as you. I can't figure it out for him. He plays on AUTO field, MANUAL throw like me. I haven't had a single issue with pitchers covering when need to be and even send him videos to prove it to him, but, his problem persists. I don't know what the answer is for some. Haven't a clue.

what are y'alls fielding sliders? I use 2 for both fielder speed and reaction and am beginning to think that's the issue?

Re: Pitchers Slow to Cover First Base

Fielder Speed can be an issue - also check your pitchers actual speed ratings.

In my carryover, pretty much every pitcher ended up having 0 speed so, of course, they could never get to the bag.

Raising them up to 40-50 should help. At the very least limit it to the faster players and harder hit locations.

Raising Fielder Speed impacts all fielders so if you like what you see where you have it - raising pitcher speed for anyone with abysmal speed might have less side effects.
