Always enjoy this thread. Got to say though, isn't it weird that we are only 75 days away from it being released, they've been taking pre-orders for months, yet we still haven't heard a single thing about the game? (unless you count who's picture will be on the box)
Can't think of any other game that does this tbh, it seems a bit complacent in terms of marketing.Comment

And we know a few things based on the twitch stream discussing the closed alpha:
* Bunting was worked on
* Fastballs/Offspeed pitches were tuned
* Balancing of power/contact hitters
That was shown on the screen when they were discussing the closed alpha and areas they wanted those who got in to pay attention to.Attached FilesI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB 19 The Show Countdown to March 26
I dont know, this is more a guess on my part but I'm not sure its complacency. I think it has to do with how much needs to be done, with the smallish size workforce they have. I figure they're busy right up to the last minute trying to cram stuff in, December & January is just to early to know whats for sure going in. If they announce something now and it doesnt make it in, thats a p.r. nightmare. Best they play it careful & close to the vest. Again, thats just my opinion.
The "who will Bryce Harper sign for" thing they are going for seems very detached from the game they are trying to sell, especially considering what team he plays for is pretty irrelevant to DD, the main focus of their games of late
I know they've been trending towards the big reveal type trailers (Immortals last year, Griffey the year before) but how many games actively seek pre orders without giving out any information at all about the game you'll be committing to buy? Kind of amazed anyone pre-orders at this stage tbh.
From an advertising/hype stand point, it just seems like they could up their game a fair bit tbh. Hell, they could steal this thread idea and post a players number each day on their twitter, that'd be something at leastComment

Considering they just finished a closed Alpha in which they received feedback off of, and the holidays, I feel like the end of January/first of February is the appropriate time for "concrete" information to come out.
I would imagine that right now, in terms of gameplay, they are actively working on feedback received from the closed Alpha. Plus they are diligently working on whatever they are trying to incorporate into the game in terms of gameplay, presentation, and modes.
And if they vaguely laid out bullet points like:
* Improved gameplay
* Improved franchise mode
* Improved Diamond Dynasty
* Improved Presentation
then the community would be:
* Asking for more information on these improvements
* Saying that SDS is just baiting people into pre-ordering by providing vague information
* Setting themselves up for disappointment because they will start "imagining" what these vague comments mean.
And even if they put out vague comments like that above, how many people on the fence of pre-ordering/buying are going to run to the store and pre-order? Vaguely releasing information to me doesn't change a potential buyer's decision.
I don't understand the concept of making SDS out to be a villain or doing something sketchy for seeking pre-orders now or whenever they were available. I mean I can at times pre-order a game that doesn't even have a release date.
I don't know when other sports games are available for pre-order because I don't play them, but it seemed that when I did. games like Madden would release in August and I could pre-order in April with no information, not even a cover.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
